Novelty

Oftentimes

We are so excited to have something new

While it is

It’s a novelty

But after it becomes

A responsibility

Less of an asset

More of a liability

And we’re caught up in wondering why

Why was it bought

Why was it sought

Why was I caught

Up in its web

Entangled in its glittery goodness

And we can’t say why we really wanted it

Cuz it was just a want

Wasn’t a need

Something we couldn’t live without

Exist without

Necessity

It was just something desired

And when used for the first time

Still not expired

It fades into regret

And rethinking

But it’s too late

To return

To make the right decision

We have to go on

Forced to go on

Long after the novelty

Has worn off
