Novelty

Oftentimes

We are so excited to have something new

While it is

It’s a novelty

But after it becomes

A responsibility

Less of an asset

More of a liability

And we’re caught up in wondering why

Why was it bought

Why was it sought

Why was I caught

Up in its web

Entangled in its glittery goodness

Β

And we can’t say why we really wanted it

Cuz it was just a want

Wasn’t a need

Something we couldn’t live without

Exist without

Necessity

It was just something desired

And when used for the first time

Still not expired

It fades into regret

And rethinking

Β

But it’s too late

To return

To make the right decision

We have to go on

Forced to go on

Long after the novelty

Has worn off
